Weehawken Water Tower Project Notes

10/20/2016

Challenge:  The most challenging aspect of this project was fabrication of the steel framing along the upper roof level that inevitably supports the new 25' flagpole.  In addition, the tapestry brick detail was deteriorating and required restoration.

Solution:  A pipe frame scaffolding system containing a hoist system was constructed along the interior from grade up to the underside of the structural wood deck system.  The new steel framing was fabricated and set in place.  The exterior tapestry brick detail was accented with black Kiem paint that aesthetically defines the tower's beauty.  Paragon fabricated and installed new finials which were set at the top of the stair tower and roof peak.  Restoration techniques were applied to the existing bluestone, brownstone and granite.  All facades were completely cleaned.

Work Performed:  Historic Exterior Masonry Restoration; Masonry Repairs; Pavers/Pedestal Installation; Steel Fabrication; Cleaning Procedures; Wood Restoration; Slate Roofing, Skylight Fabrication; Window Restoration; Doors, Flagpole, Lightening Protection; New Lighting System
